The top of the pass was snowy and slippery on the way down to ouray (there was some uncomfortable times sliding).

Going on the back side down to telluride, was amazing, we saw black bear pass before entering into telluride. Ive seen the photo online with vehicles up on it. Ran this Saturday afternoon and we only saw a couple vehicles the entire way. In a high alpine environment above treeline, the air is thinner, making activity more difficult, the air gets colder, high winds are common and there is no shelter from the sun, wind or precipitation.

San Miguel, Hinsdale, and Ouray County issued a travel at your own risk advisory. My tacoma was narrow enough to make it over with additional room. Leaving Durango this morning heading to Ouray. 6 wheel drive and 3 locking diffs (see pics). I walked the Ouray side of Imogene last September and from what I can say the lower portion of it until just past the Revenue Mine you could do in a Smart Car. I found the rocky sections on the east side between upper camp bird and camp bird to be the most challenging. With breaks and snack stops with pets expect 4-6 hours, maybe longer with pictures This pass was moderate with some shelf road before you get to the top of the pass at 13,114 ft.
