The colors in the trees are really great right now. $6 fee in self serve box to park. There are some informational signs and a restroom at the trailhead.
Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and give yourself a lot of time. • If you aren’t careful you may walk off the main trail, but it’s easy to re-orient self. Pack some flip flops so you can get your feet wet at the lake, and if you have a dog bring a leash because it is a popular hike.
When you start to hike up, you will navigate a narrow trail of dense trees.
4,065' Down The trail can get rocky, so pay attention. Beautiful views the entire way and the lake at the top is definitely worth the hike!!
Unless you are a die hard hiker, a trail runner, or in great shape, this will be a good workout.

Oh, and there is something VERY dead about a mile up that is incredibly rancid.

One popular way to do this trail involves taking the Sterling Express chairlift up, and hiking down.
Excellent trail with a great reward at the top. Climbing higher, you will pop in and out of aspen groves, and cross over ski runs and under lift lines, the scenery is on display as it opens up to panoramic views of the Jordanelle Reservoir. Great trail! The first mile and a half was easy. I personally wouldn't take tiny kids up there, but several people were.
Silver Lake is located at Brighton Ski Resort. You walk through a small stream at one point.
From I-15, go east on Route 92. Visitors can park at the Silver Lake Village. Great hike to do with your dog.
View at the top is maybe my favorite of all Salt Lake valley peaks.
But it’s definitely my new favorite spot.

The last half mile is steep, just go slow...it’s worth the end result.
We were exhausted by the time we reached the lake. Alternatively, if you hike up, you can ride the lift down for free.

One of my favorites, and the colors are amazing right now, about a mile up there is something very dead and I was gagging, hold your breath if you can other than that it was amazing, easy trail.

By comparison, Silver Lake Lodge is at the base altitude of 6,570 feet in Park City. Fun to go all the way up to White Baldy. Once you leave the main road you will travel ~3 miles to the trailhead. Please explain. 650.01 m Up We got pretty tired towards the end, needed to preserve energy for the last part but totally worth it! This trail is perfect during the summer when wildflowers bloom and fall when the aspens begin to turn their golden hue. So pretty in the fall!!!!
At the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon behind the Solitude Nordic Center and Silver Lake Visitor’s Center lies an easy, mostly boardwalk hike around the Silver Lake Nature Area. Good distance and elevation gain. You walk through the river two/three times so they can get a drink. The start of the Silver Lake Trail hike is heavily forested, which made me feel right at home. 1,519' Up There are benches along the way and picnic tables. Beautiful day hike.
