The salesman told me that with a leather sole you'd be looking at getting the boot re-soled every 9-12 months on average, because the leather soles are quite thin so they wear the leather out quite quickly. I picked them up in an RMW store, so I could get fitted and try on a few different sizes.

However, companies like Nungar Trading sell them for $365 AUD, then if you buy them from the US I imagine you get the GST back, so the total cost would be more like $330 AUD/$230 USD.

They have been making boots since the 1930's when Reginald Murray Williams learned the art of leather saddlery and boot making in the South Australian outback from a fellow known as Dollar Mick. Currently saving up for the same pair, but in black with the leather sole.

Whatever it is, they certainly live up to their “Comfort” name. I'm going to wear them a few more times before making a decision. I ask because the size comparisons are usually to AE's 5 last, which I'm a 7.5D in, but I wear thin dress socks with my AEs and if I get a RMW in yearling, I figured I'd wear slightly thicker casual socks seeing as the leather is thicker and I'd be wearing these much more casually (usually with black jeans). Nice, but whats up with that crease going down the middle of the boot? The leather is significantly softer than I had anticipated. The 'crease' is much less evident with wear. I’m barely 8E on the Brannock, and measured around a 7 wide on the device RM uses in store. Yeah, that's because of the way the boot is built. Since there's only one seam (at the back), RM Williams uses a process called "blocking" to stretch the leather out before it's stitched on, helping to keep the shape of the leather with wear. If you’re bothered by the pull-tabs and the side elastic, they’re mostly hidden, and their slip-on nature makes taking them off and putting them on very easy. What I love about these though, is that after break-in they have been extremely comfortable—more than any of my other pairs. I also knew that there was going to be a wait to get the Macquaries either way - this narrow rounded-toe model is only available by special order these days. Shop our selection of R.M. Would work in a professional setting, but I think I’ll mostly use them for after-work activities and casual Fridays. The Comfort Craftsman is one of the three main Chelsea boots on offer from R.M. They are easily worth the MSRP of $450-$500 that they often sell for here in the states. Everyone I asked said yes - but I think there is a small difference. I love RMW's yearling leather and dark tan is stunning. and then ordered online once I was confident in my sizing.
