Given the producers’ love of the obscure, there are a number of less populist inspirations as well (like “Tales of the Gold Monkey”), and the general vibe is a clear homage to ’30s and ’40s adventure stories.

4.5 out of 5 stars. Love Archer! It’s not hard to see why. Might as well have been a different show. In Danger Island though, whenever it used a joke from seasons past, it just felt wrong, like it was recycled material and they couldn't be bothered to come up with anything better...except for the comic masterpiece of the line: "shut up bird".

It's always exciting to see a show return to form. Have the writers run out of ideas, certainly jokes. Though light on laughs this time around, the funny moments that are present count due to their writing & placement throughout the season.

I thought that previous seasons had already ruined this legend of a show, but this season managed to take it a step lower. Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2018. And Archer is still as clever as ever.

Not worth your time. Archer’s actual state (he remains in a coma, hanging somewhere between life and death), “Danger Island” wastes no time setting up how, exactly, this story takes place — that it’s another dream is presumed, but not explicitly stated. Beyond just the characters too, the season's central plot and themes are too scattered and aimless for about one and a half episodes. It’s kind of funny that the cannibals had zero respect for Caucasians (specifically Noah), but allowed Noah more access into their village than any other white person prior to meeting Archer, Pam, and the rest.
